MONUMENT TO THE MEMORY OF GENERAL GALVALIGI
In 1991, Mario Lupo was commissioned by the Tortoreto Lido town council to create the 'Monument to the Memory of General Enrico R. Galvaligi' (General Carlo Alberto Dalla Chiesa's right-hand man, assassinated by the Red Brigades during the years of political terror). It was placed in the centre of the town square.
The monument consists of a concrete base bearing two bronze seagulls: one seagull on a higher level about to take flight and another seagull shot dead on the lower level, its wings opening in a last gasp of life.
